ideasoft category SEO, step by step

How to write the SEO title, meta description and bottom content of an ideasoft category page: where the fields are, the title template and a checklist.

RoigoPublished: 11 min read

In short

  • An ideasoft category has three fields that matter for search: the SEO title, the meta description and the bottom content shown below the products. All three are on the category's edit screen under Katalog → Kategoriler (Catalog → Categories).
  • A category title is 50–60 characters and starts with the phrase people search for; the meta description is 140–155 characters, since ideasoft's SEO analysis treats 155 as the upper limit.
  • ideasoft considers the bottom content the most important field for a category page's search performance; two original paragraphs of 80–150 words are enough for most categories.
  • For a category's own SEO title to appear on the site, the Category Page title in ideasoft's SEO settings must use the {kategori_baslik} variable; if the template only uses the category name, the title you wrote never reaches the page.
  • Copying the same text into similar categories doesn't help: Google usually picks one of several very similar pages and shows that one in search results.

No SEO title — Google will show a title of its own choosing

No meta description. Google will pick a random snippet from the page, which usually lowers the click-through rate.

The ranges are recommendations; Google decides how results look, and that can vary. What you type never leaves this page.

In many ideasoft stores, a category page is just a product grid: the title is built automatically from the category name and the text area below the products is empty. Yet someone searching for “steel thermos” or “baby blanket” hasn't picked a model yet; they want to see the options together. The most natural answer to that search is a category page.

This guide covers where each SEO field of an ideasoft category lives, what to write in each, which setting decides whether your title actually shows on the site, and how to get through dozens of categories quickly.

Where are the SEO fields of an ideasoft category?

A category's own title and description are under Katalog → Kategoriler (Catalog → Categories): open the category and use the SEO edit button at the bottom of the page. The top and bottom content texts are on the same edit screen (ideasoft). These fields are independent of the category name, so you can write a separate title for search without changing the name shown in your menu.

FieldWhere it showsTarget
SEO titleThe blue title on Google and the name in the browser tab50–60 characters, search phrase first
Meta descriptionThe summary under the title in search results140–155 characters
Bottom contentBelow the products; the page's main text80–150 words in two paragraphs
Top contentAbove the productsCan stay empty; a banner or one sentence

The category screen also has a hedef kelime (target keyword). ideasoft's SEO analysis scores the title, the meta description and both texts against it and expects it to appear in the category name too; by default it is the category name itself. So bringing the name closer to what people search for (“Steel Thermos” rather than “Thermoses”) does two jobs at once. Don't spend time on meta keywords: ideasoft's help page itself notes that Google and other search engines no longer use them.

Which searches a category page answers

  • Searches by product type. Someone searching for “camping chair” or “steel thermos” isn't after one model; the page that shows the options side by side is the category page, not a product page.
  • AI answers. Google says the same SEO fundamentals apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode, with no extra steps required (Google). In our own study, store and category pages were cited as sources in “where to buy” answers.
  • A long life. Products sell out and new ones arrive, but a category address (/kategori/... on ideasoft) stays the same for years and is usually linked from every page through the menu.

Title and meta description: the category in one line

The title should start with the phrase a shopper would type and then state the scope: which types, for whom, for what. Google asks for titles that describe the page, are concise and differ from page to page; boilerplate titles that change by a single word make pages impossible to tell apart (Google).

Weak

Thermoses - Store Name

Strong

Steel Thermos Flasks for Tea, Coffee and Camping

The weak title is what the template builds from the category name, and it doesn't say what's sold or who it's for. The strong one opens with the search phrase and says what's on the page. Add your store name at the end if there's room.

The meta description is the summary under the title in search results, the couple of lines a searcher reads before clicking. Fit what's in the category and what drives the choice into 140–155 characters. Leave prices and campaigns out: when they change, the old information lingers in search results. See the meta description guide for templates and examples.

How it looks in Google search results

Bottom content: how to write the category text

An ideasoft category screen has two text areas. Top content sits above the products; ideasoft says it's fine to leave it empty and that a banner or category image looks tidier at the top. Bottom content comes after the product list, so a longer text doesn't delay the visitor seeing products, and ideasoft considers it the most important field for a category page's strength in search engines (ideasoft). Put your main text there.

Two short paragraphs of 80–150 words are enough for most categories. ideasoft's SEO analysis asks for at least 50 words, but what matters more than length is that the text answers two questions:

  1. What's in this category? Which product types, for whom and for what use: “Steel flasks and travel mugs for the office, the commute and the campsite.”
  2. How do you choose? Two to four concrete criteria: capacity, lid type, material, where it will be used. Words any store could say, like “quality” or “affordable”, tell the visitor nothing.
  • Mention only the types and brands that are really in the category. Leave out product names, stock and campaigns: as products change, the text is left with wrong information.
  • Use the key phrase in the first sentence and wherever it fits naturally; don't wedge it into every sentence.
  • Write the bottom content separately for each category. Why pasting one paragraph into several categories doesn't work is covered in the next section.

Don't reuse the same copy across similar categories

It's easy to paste the same paragraph into close categories like flasks, travel mugs and camping flasks, but then the three pages become near copies of each other. Google decides which pages are duplicates based on how similar their content is and picks the address it thinks is best to show (Google), and there's no telling whether that will be the page you wanted to rank.

Weak

Travel mugs: Keep your drinks hot with our steel thermos range. The best thermos deals are here. (The same text in all three categories.)

Strong

Travel mugs: Lidded mugs for the coffee and tea you carry with you. When choosing, check whether the mug fits your car's cup holder, whether the lid opens with one hand and whether it's leak-proof.

The weak text is identical in all three categories and sets none of them apart. The strong one says who this category is for and when it's useful; the flask and camping flask categories describe their own selection criteria in the same way.
  • One intent, one category. If two categories show the same products, consider merging them so that two pages don't compete for the same search.
  • The parent category gives the overview, the subcategory the detail. “Thermoses” introduces the types; “Camping Flasks” gets into its own criteria.
  • Show the difference in the title too. Titles that differ by one word (“Thermos Models”, “Travel Mug Models”) make the pages hard to tell apart; let each title say what its category is for.

Pre-publish checklist

Working in bulk: connect ideasoft to Roigo

Doing this by hand is easy for a few categories. Once you have dozens, SEO Studio connects directly to ideasoft and Roigo AI prepares the first drafts:

  1. In the ideasoft admin, go to Entegrasyonlar → API → Ekle (Integrations → API → Add) and create an API client; name it Roigo and paste the redirect address the dashboard gives you.
  2. Turn on read and write access for Ürün, Ürün Detayı, Kategori, Blog (products, product details, categories, blog) and save.
  3. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret into Roigo, then approve on ideasoft's screen. Your categories are read in along with their current titles, descriptions and texts.
  4. In SEO Studio, open the Categories tab, select your categories and click Write with Roigo AI. Review the drafts, edit where needed, approve them and click Send to store.

Roigo AI writes the category text as two paragraphs, covering what's in the category and how to choose, and never invents product names that aren't in your store. Roigo sends ideasoft only the fields that changed: SEO title, meta description, keywords and bottom content (saved as visible on both mobile and desktop). The category's name, address, top content and products stay exactly as they are. After writing, the category is read back; if ideasoft changed any other field, the change is undone and you're told about it.

Each category uses one AI credit. The Free plan includes 50 product or category texts as a one-time trial, and on paid plans the credits renew every month (plans). If you'd rather not connect your store, you can do the same job with Excel; for products, see the ideasoft product SEO guide.

Frequently asked questions

Should an ideasoft category description go in the top or the bottom content?

The main text belongs in the bottom content. It appears below the products, doesn't delay visitors reaching them, and ideasoft considers it the most important field for a category page's search performance. You can leave the top content empty or use it for a banner.

Why doesn't the SEO title I wrote for a category show on my site?

Most likely the Category Page template in ideasoft's SEO settings uses the category name. In the SEO settings under Ayarlar → Genel Ayarlar (Settings → General Settings), set the Category Page title to {kategori_baslik} and use {kategori_aciklama} for the description. The search result changes once Google recrawls the page.

How long should an ideasoft category description be?

80–150 words in two short paragraphs is enough for most categories, and ideasoft's SEO analysis asks for at least 50. More than length, what matters is that the text says what's in the category and how to choose.

What does Roigo change in ideasoft categories?

Only the SEO title, meta description, keywords and bottom content, and only after you approve them. The category's name, address, top content and products stay unchanged.
